Woman arrested for dealing drugs in uMhlanga

The estimated street value of recovered drugs is R227 770.

A STAGGERING 1094 heroin capsules were among the stash of drugs discovered when KwaZulu-Natal police  raided a Zenith Drive flat in uMhlanga yesterday.  Provincial spokesperson for the SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwae said a 39-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs.

“She is expected to appear at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court today, facing charges of dealing in drugs. The seized drugs will be subjected to forensic analysis,” he said.

A further 1611 mandrax tablets, 11000 empty capsules, 689  ecstasy pills, 70g crushed ecstasy pills, 10g heroin powder and 754g of bulking powder were recovered in what is estimated to be a stash of  R227 770 in street value.

The joint multi-disciplinary operation was conducted as a follow up after intelligence  with regards to a drug den was received. Armed with a search warrant,  officers pounced on the identified premises and the suspect was searched.

In December last year drugs to the value of R1.5 million and a large sum of money were seized at a drug bust when police raided a block of flats on Aurora Drive, in the Gateway precinct. A 53-year-old man was arrested by police after they received information of a drug laboratory in the area.
