Resident steps forward to help Khabazela Village homework centre

The centre looks after around 30 children and caters for children from Grade R up to Grade 7 with all the subjects in the curriculum covered.

KHABAZELA Village resident, Ringi Madwe, has thanked Durban North resident, Arianne Hayes-Hill who has stepped forward to help a newly established homework centre with some of its needs. Madwe, who is studying to become a teacher, began the centre in the township in the hopes of helping the children of the settlement with their homework.

The centre looks after around 30 children and caters for children from Grade R up to Grade 7 with all the subjects in the curriculum covered.

Madwe works out of a local church and uses their premises on a daily basis.

“When we put out the appeal in the Northglen News for help for the homework centre I really didn’t expect anyone to come forward to help. When Arianne contacted our community leader and told him she was willing to help I was over the moon.”

She even visited the homework centre and told us about her projects uplifting the residents at Malacca Road Informal Settlement.

Khabazela Village community leader, Dumile Magaqa, also expressed his delight at the offer of help from Hayes-Hill.”
