Duo’s rocking charitable drive for change

The Virginia Preparatory School educators say they hope the community will support their fundraising event.

GAVIN Skevington and Angela Walter are hoping Durbanites get behind their charity drive to raise funds for CHOC (The Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa) and the Intshisekelo Secondary School in Inanda.

The Virginia Preparatory School educators have, for the past two years, done a number of fundraising events in the hopes of making a difference in the community.

Skevington, who is part of the ‘FUN’draising arm of CHOC, the Cows, often dons the patterned bovine inspired suit and competes in a number of events each year.

However, one of the key events for the duo is the upcoming 80s to Now at the Rockwood Theatre at Sibaya Casino on Tuesday, 13 August.

“Sibaya Casino and Rockwood Theatre have been kind enough to allow us one night to raise funds for both causes and we are just really blown away by the gesture. We have so many projects planned to help Intshisekelo Secondary School while also giving back to CHOC,” Skevington said.

Walter concurred and said they hoped to help and uplift the school by repairing several gutters and down pipes.

The duo said they hope to see as many people support their cause and attend the upcoming show.
