Pedestrian robbed on Umhlanga Rocks Drive
According to Durban North police, this is the fifth robbery of a pedestrian in recent weeks.
DURBAN North Police are investigating a case of robbery after a pedestrian was robbed of his cell phone on Umhlanga Rocks Drive opposite Grace Family Church campus in uMhlanga.
While the incident occurred last Monday at about 11pm, Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, said there has been a spate of robberies targeting pedestrians.

“This is the fifth robbery in recent weeks. The incidents have been scattered across our policing precinct but the robbers normally target lone pedestrians late at night or in the early hours of the morning. In this case, the victim said two men jumped out of the vehicle and began running after him.
“The suspects grabbed the victim and asked for his valuables. He only had a cell phone on him and the men stole the item and drove off. Unfortunately, the victim was not able to identify the vehicle used in the incident. We are urging pedestrians, residents and visitors, where possible, to walk in groups,” he said.
