Sunningdale couple gives back to animal rescues on wedding day

Kim and Neil Freemantle urged guests to bring dog and cat food instead of wedding gifts on their wedding day.

WHEN Kim and Neil Freemantle decided to tie the knot just before Christmas, they wanted to celebrate their special day by giving back to animal charities.

Their big-hearted gesture on their wedding day saw the couple call on guests to bring dog and cat food for non-profit organisations (NPO) Project Dog and Kingdom Cats Sanctuary, both based in the area.

More than 40 bags of cat and dog food were donated with some guests also depositing money into the charities’ accounts.

“I’ve actually adopted a cat and a dog from both of the NPOs and I know the amazing work they do for the animals. That’s why we wanted to celebrate our special day by giving back. Our guests were wonderful with some even donating to both charities. The day after our wedding some guests returned with more food,” she said.

“Christmas is really a tough time for most charities and we wanted to make an impact. I hope we inspired others to follow a similar gesture on their wedding days.”
