All systems go for uMhlanga Summer Festival

The theme for this year’s festival is, It’s Cool to Care – with all aspects of the season aimed at caring for people and the planet.

A FUN-FILLED festive season is on the cards for uMhlanga. On Wednesday, 21 October, the annual Umhlanga Summer Festival was launched at the plush Breakers Resort.

The festival runs run from Friday, 14 to Friday, 23 December 2018 and this year’s theme is,  It’s Cool to Care.

The festival has been running for more than 10 years and takes place annually at Main Beach during the popular December holidays when thousands of visitors flock to Umhlanga Rocks.

According to organisers, Umhlanga Tourism, there will be daily clean-up for the duration of the festival where all beach-goers will be encouraged to take part in cleaning up the beach.

“The ever-popular Sharks Board offers educational and informative packages to learn more about the magnificent beasts who reign supreme in our beautiful Indian Ocean. Guided walks through the beautiful coastal forest and lagoon nature are offered. The ancient forest dates back more than 800 years, boasting unusual indigenous plants and animals that live in this unique and vulnerable ecosystem many of which are on the endangered species,” said Umhlanga Tourism’s Peter Rose.
