City yet to decide on Fill Up Moses Mabhida funding

The reports which have been trending on various social media platforms claim the City will spend R56 million to fund the Fill Up Moses Mabhida concert.

THE eThekwini Municipality has dismissed social media reports claiming it has allocated over R50 million to fund a music concert at Moses Mabhida Stadium in December this year. The reports which have been trending on various social media platforms claim that the City will spend R56 million to fund the Fill Up Moses Mabhida concert organised by a recording artist Casper Nyovest.

“The city dismisses this fabricated news circulating on social media platforms and regards them as malicious. It should be noted that the City continues to engage with various event organisers to identify leveraging opportunities to market the destination through hosting key events,” said the City in a statement.

They said a decision on whether it will fund the concert is yet to be taken.

“Events are part of the city’s visitor strategy to market the destination by identifying leveraging opportunities to promote the destination.

“The city wishes to confirm that it has been in discussion and or communicating with Fill Up Moses Mabhida event organisers, however the City has not reached any agreements or concluded any funding support for this event,” concluded the City.
