uMhlanga guard, assaulted robbed of firearm

The vehicle used in the robbery was fitted with false number plates.

A SECURITY guard was assaulted and robbed of his firearm after he was accosted by three masked men on Chartwell Drive in uMhlanga on Friday.

According to Captain Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North police station, at around 3.30pm the guard saw an unknown Mercedez-Benz pull up to the premises while he was on duty.

“The victim said three armed men wearing balaclavas climbed out of the car and assaulted him before they took his gun and drove off,” he said.

Deokaran said preliminary investigations determined that the car had been fitted with false number plates.
