Durban Mayor to update residents on City’s achievements

Gumede is expected to reflect on the City’s achievements of the past financial year.

THE wait is almost over for eThekwini residents as Mayor Zandile Gumede will deliver the State of the City Address (SOCA) on Thursday. Gumede is expected to reflect on the City’s achievements of the past financial year.

The address comes in the midst of the debacle involving the City and the auditor-general’s office.

Last week the auditor-general’s office withdrew its audit team from the eThekwini Municipality with immediate effect after its employees received death threats.

Gumede is also expected to touch on the maintenance of fiscal discipline as local government and elaborate on the future outlook of the Medium Term Revenue Expenditure Framework 2018-2021.

The address which takes place on Thursday, 31 May will be held at 10am in the City Hall’s Main Auditorium. The public will be able to view the proceedings on a screen outside the  hall.
