12 injured in taxi rollover on N2

The accident comes a day after a horror crash on Queen Nandi Drive which left five people dead.

A TOTAL of 12 people were injured when a taxi rolled on the N2, south bound, just before the Sibaya off-ramp on Tuesday afternoon. According to Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911, the accident occurred at around 11.40am.

“Reports indicate the driver of a mini-bus taxi with 12 occupants lost control, causing the vehicle to roll, coming to a stop on the side of the road. All 12 occupants were treated on the scene and 11 have been transported to hospital by ambulance services for further assessment and care,” he said.

The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue as well as the SAPS were on scene.

The accident comes a day after a horror crash on Queen Nandi Drive which left five people dead.

“Two taxis and a truck collided in the accident. Four people were tragically killed in the crash, while a fifth critically injured patient, died on scene. One of the injured patients was airlifted to hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage and is being investigated,” he said.
