Homeowner tied-up in Ridge Road armed robbery

The suspects made off with the homeowner's Toyota Fortuna as well as several other items.

A GANG of five men stormed a Ridge Road home on Wednesday night before assaulting the homeowner and ransacking the home. The incident occurred at about 8.40pm in uMhlanga, confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

“The homeowner was watching TV with his wife and children when they heard a loud scream from the domestic worker in another room. The victim then proceeded to investigate and was confronted by one of the suspects. He ordered the homeowner to lie on the ground before tying him up. They proceeded to ransack the home and also stole the homeowner’s Toyota Fortuna. It is believed the suspects arrived on foot before fleeing with the vehicle,” he said.
