UK couple robbed at gunpoint in uMhlanga

Durban North SAPS say the suspects used a silver VW Polo in the armed robbery

A COUPLE from England were robbed by two men, one of whom was armed in uMhlanga on Tuesday afternoon. The visitors, who were staying at a guest house in the area were walking along Sylvan Grove at around 4pm when the incident occurred.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the victims said the driver of the vehicle, a silver VW Polo, had pulled alongside them while they were walking.

“One of the suspects in the passengers seat rolled down his window and pointed a firearm at them demanding their valuables. He then got out of the car and removed the couple’s Rolex watches, an iPhone and two pairs of reading glasses. The suspect then jumped back into the getaway vehicle and drove off. The couple were extremely traumatised by the incident and were unable to get the registration of the vehicle,” he said.
