Schools bid farewell to Northwood, Glenashley principals

Both principals have given five years of service to their respective schools.

TWO Durban North schools said a sad farewell to their dedicated principals last week. Glenashley Preparatory School bid a fond farewell to their principal, Penny Alston at the school’s final assembly for the 2017 school year.

Alston, a well-known and leading figure in the North Durban school community, leaves Glenashley Prep to take up her new post at Reddam House Umhlanga.

According to Tracy Trotter from the school, Alston has been a beacon of light at Glenashley Prep over the last five years.

“She has created strong foundations to ensure the school will continue to go from strength to strength. The staff and learners wish Mrs Alston every happiness and success in her new position,” she said.

Northwood School’s headmaster, Paul McAvoy is also leaving after five years of leadership, innovation and professionalism.

He leaves along with his family to take up a position in New Zealand and will be greatly missed by the North Durban Community.
