A THIEF was chased by members of an uMgeni Park complex in the early hours of Friday morning. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the suspect dropped part of his loot in an attempt to getaway after a foot chase on Anthony Road where the incident occurred.
“One of our reaction officers who responded to a panic alarm noticed a suspect dressed in black running inside the complex. He chased after him but the suspect managed to flee the scene. The suspect gained access to the home by forcing the kitchen window open.
“The suspect was inside the home while the homeowners were asleep. Our officer managed to recover some items inside the complex and a case has been opened at the Greenwood Park SAPS. The suspect gained entry into the complex by cutting a hole in the rear fence,” he said.

The break-in was the sixth incident this week. Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS said police noticed an ‘increase’ in house robberies and break-ins.
He has appealed to residents to be extra vigilant.
“Your doors must be properly locked and your windows must be closed. It is also important that neighbours look out for others,” he said.

On Saturday morning, a VW Polo was stolen from a home on Anthony Road but was later recovered by BidTrack in Ntuzuma.
