One injured after car collides with bus

The accident occurred just before 7am at the intersection of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Joseph Avenue.

ONE person was injured after a collision at the intersection of Joseph Road and Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Sunday morning. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the accident occurred just before 7am. Netcare 911 paramedics were also on scene to attend to the victim, a woman believed to be 30-years-old.

“The Volkswagen Polo had collided in a T-bone fashion,with a bus at high speed. The driver and single occupant of the vehicle sustained a head injury. She was placed onto a specialised stretcher for the prevention of spinal cord injuries and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.

“Reports from the scene suggest the vehicle failed to stop at a stop street, colliding with the bus. There were no injuries sustained by the occupants of the bus. The necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating the case,” he said.

Umhlanga Rocks Drive had to be cordoned off at the intersection while rescue personnel attended to the scene of the crime.
