R5 000 raised at guide dog fundraiser

All proceeds raised on the day will go towards the train of guide dog puppies

AN incredible R5 000 was raised for the South African Guide Dogs Association after a recent putt putt fundraiser at La Lucia Mall. Ane Roux, marketing manager for the association said the significance behind the fundraiser was those using a guide dog only paid R5 to the association.

“That’s why the entrance fee was only R5. We were just blown away by the support from the shoppers and La Lucia Mall. To raise R5 000 was an incredible effort. We had so much fun that I think we need to do it again,” she enthused.

On the day, participants putted on a mini indoor mat for a small donation of R5.

“The day was about reminding the public how important it is to support those looking after the visually impaired in a fun way as well as draw attention to how easily we take our sight for granted.

This was about interacting with the public and raising awareness on what we do as an organisation.”

Roux said all proceeds will go towards the train of guide dog puppies
