Armed gang storm home in Greenwood Park

The men demanded money and jewellery from the elderly woman who was asleep at the time of the attack.

FOUR men stormed a home in Park Station Road, Greenwood Park yesterday. Greenwood Park Police spokesman, Sergeant Vincent Mthembu said the men demanded money and jewellery from an elderly woman who was asleep at the time of the attack.

The woman’s son and a domestic worker were also at home at the time of the assault. “The son and the domestic worker complied when the intruders tied them up and locked them inside the toilet. Because of being confronted by a man with a gun the older woman surrendered all her money from beneath her bed mattress to the criminals.”

No arrest have been made. The suspects fled the scene soon after the ordeal.

“There were no signs of forced entry so it is unclear exactly how the suspects gained access into the yard and house. We strongly urge everyone to keep security gates locked at all times and to keep panic buttons close at hand if you are subscribed to a security company. With festive season upon us, we have to all be substantially vigilant about our surroundings and safety,”  Mthembu said:
