Man arrested by Greenwood Park SAPS for heroin possession

The man was nabbed by Greenwood Park police.

A MAN in his 20s was arrested by Greenwood Park police at the weekend after he was found in possession of a slew of drugs including heroin.  Spokesman for the Greenwood Park Police station, Sergeant Vincent Mthembu said the arrest was made by their Crime Prevention Unit who pounced on the man in Quarry Heights.

“The man in his late 20s was found in possession of mandrax, marijuana and 17 straws of heroin. He was taken into custody and the drugs were sent off to the lab for testing. With the festive season upon us we will be doing many stop and searches in the area,” said Mthembu.

In March this year a man was arrested for being in possession of cocaine, crystal meth and methcathinone to the value of R222 900. The suspected drug dealer was nabbed by members of the Durban Flying Squad who arrested the suspect in Waterloo. The man was a known drug dealer in the Durban North and Sibaya Casino area.

Three months later, in June, six men were arrested by the Hawks and the Organised Crime Unit in uMhlanga on Saturday for being in possession of an estimated R1.2-million worth of drugs. It is alleged police found mandrax, heroin and ecstasy which were packaged in various containers in a flat on Equinox Drive.
