Two arrested for Somerset Park house break-in

The arrests come on the back of a spike in criminal activity in the area.

DURBAN North SAPS along with Marshall Security arrested two men for breaking into a home in Somserset Park on Thursday morning. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, one of the suspects was arrested in possession of a stolen TV from the Wincanton Way home.

The suspects had earlier gained access to the house by removing a window confirmed Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen.

“The gang managed to steal a flat screened TV and a chain and lock from the gate before fleeing on foot. One suspect was found in Somerset Park Drive in posession of the stolen TV while another was found in possession of a lock and chain. Three other suspects were seen fleeing towards a getaway vehicle. His accomplices remain at large,” he said.

The men are due in court next week as police continue investigations to see if the men are linked to other crimes in the area.

The break-in comes 24 hours after two incidents in La Lucia. In the past 14 days, there has been four armed home invasions and six break-ins across the North Durban area.
