Promenade run for furry friends

The dog walk is a platform for the community to get together with their pets and enjoy a fun day out.

The uMhlanga Promenade will play host to the ‘Paws on the Promenade’ walk on Sunday, 1 October. Absolute Pets, Champion Petfoods South Africa and the uMhlanga UIP said the fun dog walk is aimed at promoting the well-being of pets.

The event is now celebrating quality time outdoors with our beloved dogs, supports pets in need and raise awareness around responsible dog walking. While entry is free, Paws on the Promenade encourages the community to support ‘Feeding the Furballs’, an organisation dedicated to providing food and supplies to rescue animals and organisations.

The dog walk is a platform for the community to get together with their pets and reflect on the etiquette required to maintain this space and continue having access to such a prime dog-walking spot.

To enter: download the entry form: visit here and email it to dogwalk@absolutepets.com or hand it in at any of the company’s stores.

Entrants can park in The Pearls Mall parking lot for free for the day. Each entrant will receive a validated parking ticket in their gift bag.
All dogs must be on a leash and dog owners are urged to pick up after their dog, making use of the UIP poop bag dispensers along the route.

While all dogs are welcome, organisers have asked residents to bear in mind that their dogs will be around many other dogs so consider whether they are socialised enough, or comfortable enough being around other dogs.

The walk is a 2.5 kilometre loop (north to the end of the promenade and back to the pier) from 8am to midday starting at the pier.
