Local feature film searches for young actors

Kings of Mulberry Street auditions open doors for next young film prodigy.

THE search is on for two young actors of Indian origin who will star in a local feature film in Durban.

Kings of Mulberry Street is a film written and directed by Judy Naidoo. It follows the escapades of two young South African Indian boys from Verulam in KwaZulu-Natal, who have to overcome their differences and band together in order to defeat the bullying local crime lord who threatens their families.

It is a charming and hilarious adventure, with universal themes that will appeal to the whole family. The film also pays tribute to classic 80s Bollywood movies and their heroes.

Kajal Bagwandeen who is the Casting Director of the film said they were searching for raw talent and they would hold auditions in Durban.

“We are looking for two young, enthusiastic boys between the ages of 9-11 years who have a desire to act, and some natural performing ability. No special requirements are sought, but the child must be able to read and be of Indian descent,”said Bagwandeen.

The first boy characters names will be Ticky who is of Indian descent. He is between nine and 11 years old, slightly skinny and enjoys the outdoors. He is creative and energetic. The other one will be Baboo who is slightly chubby, creative, energetic. He is also between nine and 11 years old and of Indian descent.

Auditions will be on 30 September and 1 October 2017.
