Hijacking rescue turns ugly in Durban North

The man who tried to help the victim was hit with a brick on his head.

A 30- year-old man has been left with a head injury after he tried to intervene during a hijacking. Marshall Security’s Kyle Van Reenen said the incident occurred at around 4.30pm on Wednesday. He said the man was waiting for public transport on Kenneth Kaunda (Northway) Road when he saw an alleged attempted hijacking.

“He witnessed a suspect attempting to hijack a motorist at the intersection of Kenneth Kaunda and Beachway Street. The selfless act saw the man confront the suspect, who then assaulted the man with a brick, injuring him on the head, before the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction,” Van Reenen said.
