Trucks wreaking havoc in Glen Anil

One area of particular concern is the intersection of Cypress Drive and Wisteria Grove.

WARD 110 councillor, Pete Graham, has expressed his concern over the destruction of City property in certain sections of Glen Anil. The area, which is part industrial, part residential, has had a longstanding problem with heavy-duty vehicles driving over and ruining kerbs, knocking down street signs as well as damaging sewer lines.

“Some of these heavy duty trucks come up Cypress Drive and turn in Wisteria (Grove), before driving into Bauhinia Drive which is what is causing the damage. Several residents have expressed their unhappiness about the state of the roads. Some of the trucks use this intersection as their turning circle because they can’t drive up the incline at Bauhinia. Essentially they prefer going downhill.

“I will be in contact with the eThekwini Traffic Authority (ETA) to determine the tonnage the residential section and indeed the business section can take. We cannot continue having a situation like this develop,” Graham said.
