The suspects ransacked the house and loaded the items into the homeowner's vehicle which was also stolen in the robbery.
AN uMhlanga couple were held up by four men, two of whom were armed, in a house robbery on Saturday morning. According to the Durban North SAPS, the suspects had set off the alarm twice before holding up the owner at gunpoint. The incident occurred at about 4am on Dumra Avenue. What is more the suspects made off with the homeowner’s car, a Renault Duster.
“The suspects set off the outside beams of the rear garden the first time and the homeowner initially thought it was a gecko because he couldn’t spot anyone and called off the armed response. The alarm then went off a second time and as the homeowner walked to his back door, he was confronted by four suspects, two of whom were armed with handguns.

“They forced him into one of the bedrooms and tied him and his wife up. The suspects then threw a sheet over the couple’s heads while they ransacked the house. Jewellery, cell phones, as well other household goods and the homeowner’s car was stolen in the robbery,” the police said.
Kevin Webster, operations and security manager for the Upper Umhlanga Security Trust (UUST) confirmed the incident had taken place.
“We managed to ping one of the phones taken in the robbery and were assisted by the SAPS as well as Marshall Security in the search for the vehicle and stolen goods. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful but we are continuing our investigations,” Webster said.
