WATCH: Large alligator spotted on golf course

The alligator is just shy of 12 feet long and is at the very least 30 years old.

HE is called Sherman the Tank. Northglen News has covered two stories about giant gators on golf courses in Florida and this one is even more shocking due to the size of the reptile.

The behemoth was filmed by the Fripp Island Resort’s Head Naturalist. They estimate Sherman to be around 12 feet (+ 3 metres) in length.

“I am on call to respond to a variety of wildlife issues. I was called to this gator moving down the golf course. Luckily, this large American alligator was on his normal walking route and no action was needed by island security or myself. This bull roams from pond to pond each spring and summer so he can hunt prey and mate with the multiple females in his territory.

“We measured a spot he laid down at and he is just shy of 12 feet long. This gator is at the very least 30 years old. He is seen with some regularity by golfers and residents who live on the course, and he does not pay attention to humans. As long as people keep their distance and don’t feed him, we can expect to see Sherman the Tank as we’ve been calling him that for years.”
