Missing Redhill man found dead in hotel

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

THE body of the missing Redhill resident was discovered at a hotel in Pinetown on Tuesday last week. Sanjay Dukhi had been missing since Monday, 29 May. His wife spoke to Northglen News last week and put out an emotional appeal for any information. Provincial SAPS spokesman, Captain Nqobile Gwala said Sanjay had checked in to a lodge on Pinetown last week.

“It is alleged that the man who checked in as ‘Avish’ and booked a room at a lodge in Pinetown on 29 May. On the following day, he did not check out and when the security guard went to check the room, they discovered his body,” she said.

In a statement RUSA said the 38-year-old was believed to have boarded a taxi on the day he went missing.

“He was to meet a friend in West Street in Durban central, however he failed to arrive at the meeting point. His family, police and RUSA members conducted an extensive search for him. His family was informed that he was found deceased after the discovery was made today. Circumstances surrounding Sanjay’s death are subject to investigation,” they said in a statement.
