Guests enjoy sushi evening with SPCA yard cats

The rescued cats not yet housed by the SPCA, known as the 'yard cats' also made an appearance, much to the delight of the guests.

THE Durban & Coast SPCA hosted an eventful fundraiser recently aimed at raising awareness about the organisation. Their second Sushi Evening,  according to the organisers, was once again well supported.

“We almost have doubled the amount of people this year,” said Lindsey Concer, spokesperson for the animal welfare organisation. It was absolutely spectacular. Everyone had such an amazing time. I have got nothing but good feedback so far.”

On top of the sushi and live music from Marcuz Krenzer, a local musician, the guests also enjoyed a photo booth, goodie bags and prizes. The rescued cats not yet housed by the SPCA, known as the ‘yard cats’ also made an appearance, much to the delight of the guests.

“The event is lovely. I love sushi, I love animals and it’s a good cause,” said Kate Holden, a donator and supporter of the Durban & Coast SPCA.  About 1000 animals are brought into the SPCA every month.  We’re always looking for committed volunteers,” added Concer.

Sign up to volunteer by going onto the website, www.spcadnb.org.za and filling out a form or by visiting the SPCA at 2 Willowfield Crescent, Springfield Park.
