Man arrested on Umhlanga Rocks Drive

The man has been handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.

A MAN has been arrested after a SNIPR Automatic Number Plate Recognition Camera (SNIPR) picked up a stolen vehicle in uMhlanga. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the vehicle was stolen in Amanzimtoti earlier this month.

“The registration on the vehicle matched the description of a white Nissan Tida which had been used in the commission of a crime earlier this month in the Amanzimtoti area. A description of the vehicle was distributed to all vehicles in the area and a positive identification was made at a service station in Umhlanga Rocks Drive.

“Greenwood Park SAPS helped intercept the vehicle. Information received via the SACAN network, provided a detailed photograph of the suspect involved in the original theft case, and the suspects identity was matched to the man found driving the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and remanded into the custody,” he said.
