Man arrested after discharging firearm on La Lucia beach

The man who was allegedly intoxicated admitted to firing several shots into the ocean.

A MAN was arrested after firing his handgun into the ocean on Lady Ellen Crescent Beach on Saturday. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, residents reported hearing a number of shots being fired on the beach.

“Both the Durban North SAPS and members of Marshall Security responded to the scene. We found a group of men on the beach. Police conducted a search and found a firearm. The man admitted to firing several shots into the surf. The man was charged for discharging a weapon in a public space and was also charged for being in possession of a weapon while under the influence. He was arrested by the members of the SAPS,” he said.
