Can you make the cut for Lion King Asia tour?

The roles of Pumbaa, Zazu and Shenzi, Bansai and Ed, the hyenas in the show must also be filled.

SPECIAL character auditions for the ever popular Lion takes place on Friday, 12 May. The successful characters will feature in the show that will tour Asia and South Africa in 2018. The producers are seeking strong male and female singers from all cultural backgrounds who move very well and are in their late teens to mid-40s. The role of Scar, requires an exceptional actor (classical training is helpful) who is also a character singer.

To be considered for the role of Mufasa, the actor needs to be a strong, masculine male lion in his mid-30s – mid-40s. Must have a physical strength and have an excellent, rich baritone voice. Producers are also looking for a female in her late 20s to play Rafiki. This person will portray a soulful, but comedic, African female baboon. They should possess an excellent, rich unique South African style belt voice. The role of an adult Simba has to be filled as well as that of an adult Nala. Then Timon’s character has to be played by a male in his late 20s to mid-40s. Timon is a wise cracking meerkat.

The roles of Pumbaa, Zazu and Shenzi, Bansai and Ed, the hyenas in the show must also be filled. The venue for the auditions is The Playhouse Company in Mayville, Durban.
