Woman burns to death near King Shaka airport

A docket of culpable homicide has been opened with the South African Police Services.

ONE PERSON burnt to death and another is in a critical condition after an accident near King Shaka International Airport today. The driver of a Mercedes Benz apparently lost control of the car along the link road between Watson Highway and the airport.

“At around 12:45am on Wednesday, 22 March, we received a report of the accident. On arrival it was established that the vehicle had ignited after colliding with a power box,” said Ismail Mitha, from Bigshow Towing.

The chairman of Emergency Control SA, Mitha, went on to say that a female occupant of the car was declared dead on-scene and that the male occupant is in a critical condition and was transported to a hospital for further treatment. All emergency services were in attendance, he said.

According to King Shaka International Airport South African Police Service station’s Colonel Musa Myende, a docket of culpable homicide has been opened.
