Paramedics found debris from the motorbike spread approximately ninety metres away from the scene.

A BIKER tragically died on Tuesday after driving into the rear-end of a heavy goods vehicle. The man died on impact, after sustaining extensive injuries.

Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha said paramedics responded to a call at around 9.40am this morning adding that the accident occurred along the N2 northbound carriageway just before the King Shaka off-ramp.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the bike collided into the rear of a heavy goods vehicle. Exact detail to the cause of the crash and  preceding events is still speculative and will form part of the police investigation.

“Paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found accident debris from the motorbike that had broken up was spread over ninety metres. Some of it was still burning. The truck stopped about 100 metres up the roadway,” Botha said.

The N2 roadway travelling north was partially closed by the police for investigation.
