Fire damages flooring shop in uMhlanga

No one was injured in the blaze says uMhlanga UIP.

A FIRE broke out at a flooring shop on Lighthouse Road in uMhlanga on Thursday evening. A source within the uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct confirmed that firefighters had managed to put out the blaze which had damaged the shop and partially damaged an office above it.

“UIP, Enforce Security, and firefighting department were swiftly on scene at the Beacon Rock building where the fire broke out. Durban North SAPS and Metro Police have cordoned the area off. Thankfully no one was harmed in the incident, the shop, a flooring company, was closed at the time of the blaze. While it is still speculative, it’s believed the fire started in the db board. The blaze has been doused but there is still a lot of smoke in the building which has made it hard to assess how much was damaged,” the source said.

In a similar incident two weeks ago, several shops were without power at La Lucia Mall after a generator burst into flames.
