Prestondale teen in critical condition following accident

The teenager suffered severe trauma to the head and was placed on a ventilator on scene.

A PRESTONDALE teenager is in a critical condition following an accident this afternoon. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the 17-year-old was skateboarding in the area when the accident was occurred on the corner of Fern Road and Wager Avenue.

“It’s unclear how the accident occurred. The teenager suffered severe trauma to the head and was placed on a ventilator on scene. According to his mom, he had just matriculated and is hoping to study chartered accountancy. He has been transported to Umhlanga Hospital by Netcare 911 paramedics,” he said.

Chris Botha of Netcare 911 said the incident occurred just after 3.30pm.

“When paramedics arrived on scene, they found the critically injured patient lying on the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Exact detail to the cause of the accident will form part of the Police investigations,” he said.
