Armed men storm Somerset Park home

The suspects used two getaway vehicles in the armed robbery.

AN armed gang hammered down a door to a Somerset Park home before ransacking it in a daring robbery early on Friday morning. The homeowner was also assaulted by the suspects who made off with various items to the value of R500 000. The incident occurred on Hambridge Avenue at about 1.40am.

“Five suspects stormed the home bashing down the front door using a large hammer. They derailed the driveway gate to gain access to the home. They assaulted the owner and pushed him to the ground.

“They demanded to know where the safe was. They took a number of items including cash, jewellery and a laptop all to the value of R500 000 and fled to the awaiting getaway vehicles parked outside the home,” he said.

It is believed the suspects used a white Golf and a white Mercedes.
