Armed gang storm Prestondale home

The suspects roughed up the Prestondale mother during the robbery.

A GANG of armed men stormed and ransacked a Prestondale home on Thursday afternoon. Captain Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS said between five and six suspects held up the local family on Swallow Close before making off with a number of goods, including six firearms. The incident occurred just after 12.30pm.

“The son was entering the driveway when the men rushed up behind him and forced him inside. His mother who was at home at the time of the robbery was roughed up by the suspects and made to sit on the floor. The suspects ransacked the home and ripped a safe out of the wall. They also stole six guns, four shotguns and two handguns, a number of cell phones, jewellery and a large amount of cash.

“The mother and her family were extremely traumatised by the armed robbery, she wasn’t sure if there were five or six suspects who had stormed the home. We are currently looking at CCTV footage from neighbours around the home in the hopes of picking up a registration or further details about the robbery,” he said.
