KZN’s top pupil hails from Sunningdale

Danville Park Girls' High School learner named top matric pupil in KZN.

A DANVILLE Park Girls’ High School learner has been named KwaZulu-Natal’s top matric pupil. Romal Naidoo, was awarded the top honours at the Durban ICC on Thursday. The 18-year-old produced some amazing results achieving 8As. The Sunningdale resident said she was left speechless when she went up on stage to receive her prize.

“I’m overwhelmed. Everyone has just been congratulating me and I’m trying to let it all sink in. This was totally unexpected. I’m so grateful to so many people who have helped through the year, my parents, my teachers and friends have been so supportive. I’d also like to thank God for this incredible honour. I’m excited about what the future holds and grateful for my marks,” she said.

Romal, who hopes to study medicine says she keeping her options open when it comes to choosing a university. She also offered some advice for the Matric class of 2017.

“You have to be the best you can be. You have to persevere, have faith and believe in yourself,” she said.
