The suspects then abruptly made a U-turn heading in the direction of Waterloo.

The alleged criminal’s abandoned the vehicle close to Waterloo and attempted to flee the scene confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

“The chase which began on the M4 ended just outside Waterloo. Our officers as well as members of the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) gave chase. As the suspects abandoned the vehicle, our officers chased after them and managed to arrest one of the suspects.

“We traced the registration of the vehicle and found it was taken in a hijacking in Greenwood Park. We found house break-in implements and believe the man may be linked to other crimes in the area. An arrest of the outstanding suspects is imminent,” he said.
