Cyclist robbed during morning ride

The suspect made off with the resident's bicycle and watch to the value of R52 000.

AN uMhlanga cyclist was held up by an armed assailant on Umhlanga Ridge Boulevard on Sunday at about 6.20am. Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North police station, said the resident was robbed of his watch and bicycle to the value of R52 000.

“The resident noticed a man in a blue overall walk in front of him forcing him to stop. He then produced a knife and instructed the victim to get off the bike. He then got on to the bicycle and took the man’s watch before cycling off. At this point we have not made any arrests, we are still investigating the case,” he said.
