Domestic worker arrested after La Lucia theft

The domestic worker wore a wig and changed her clothing to escape the area with the stolen items.

A DOMESTIC worker was arrested after stealing four cell phones, jewellery and clothing from a resident in La Lucia. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, when the employer found that his phone had been stolen, he called for the company to track it.

The domestic worker, who was tracked to Glen Anil, tried to change her appearance by wearing a wig.

“The domestic worker had stolen the Samsung cell phone earlier in the evening, just before she left work. We had a positive track on the phone, which was initially in Highlands Road and then on to Glen Anil Street. The domestic worker had changed clothing and even put on a wig and tried to lie her way out when she was confronted.

“She eventually confessed to having the phone and thereafter she showed numerous other items on her, that belonged to the family which included three other cellphones, jewellery, shoes, clothing and the homeowner’s wife’s handbag. Greenwood Park Saps attended and the suspect has been arrested,” he said.
