Tee-off for CANSA

The Mrs SA finalist, Trisha Poona, hosted a fundraiser at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club.

MRS SOUTH Africa finalist, Trisha Poona, recently held a CANSA golf day fundraiser at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club where she was hoping to raise R50 000 for the non-profit organisation.

“I have been absolutely blow away by the community support. Everyone came together and it has been a massive support,” she said on the day.

The local beauty said she especially appreciated the assistance from her husband, Vishal Poona and her brother Yasheel Gordhan, who taught her the ins and outs of golf.

“I am not a golf player, so they were instrumental in teaching me and helping me set up the event. It has been a real learning curve,” she said.

“Every cent of the initiative will be donated to CANSA,” added Poona.

Before the event, The Mount Edgecombe resident said she was under the impression that CANSA was all about cancer research, however after visiting the Durban Care Centre she realised how much work they do.

“Not only do they provide cancer screening tests, but they also provide care and assistance to people and families who have been affected by the disease. People who have been diagnosed are able to stay at their facilities and are then also transported to the hospital for tests and treatment,” she explained.

“This is truly an incredible cause to support,” she said.
