Another two hijackings rock Greenwood Park area

One of the victims managed to grab his daughter just before the hijackers drove off with his car.

ANOTHER two hijackings kept Greenwood Park police on their toes yesterday when motorists were robbed by heavily armed men.

SAPS spokesman for the Greenwood Park Police station, W/O Leon Audh said the first incident happened at around 4.30pm on Hendon Road. “The victim claimed that he was parked on the roadside when he was approached by two unknown males. He went on to say that one of the men pointed a firearm at him and demanded that he jump out of his Silver BMW.”

Audh added that the man reported to the police that he managed to grab his daughter from the vehicle before the suspects fled in his vehicle. The BMW was found a few hours later in Newlands East. A manhunt is currently underway to track down the suspects.

Later in the evening at around 8.30pm another hijacking rocked Elms Field Road, Springfield Park. “A complainant alleged that he was accosted by four unknown males and that one of them had threatened him with a firearm. He further went on to say that his passenger was also threatened and instructed by the suspects to vacate the vehicle,” Audh said. The suspects arrived on foot and fled with the victims Toyota Tazz. The stolen car was later found at the Kenville Railway Station.
