Armed men target Avoca resident

Police have increased its manpower in the Greenwood Park policing district following the spate of hijackings.

POLICE have warned against a recent spike in hijackings in the Greenwood Park policing district. This after the seventh reported hijacking took place last week.
According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the station, the victim was confronted by three armed men outside of his business premises on Avoca Road on Sunday, 21 August.
He said the suspects forced the man back into his shop and demanded the keys to his car, as well as his cell phone.
After the victim complied they fled the scene in his silver Mercedes Benz towards Effingham Road.
“The vehicle was fitted with a tracker and was recovered in Ntuzuma a short while later,” he confirmed.
Audh said the station had increased its manpower in the area, especially during the early mornings and evenings, when the hijackings primarily occur.
