Umhlanga Post Office moved to temporary home

In preparation for the Oceans Umhlanga Development the post office is being demolished and has been relocated to a temporary site.

THE demolition of the Umhlanga Post Office is making way for the R3.1-billion Oceans Umhlanga Development, which was launched last year by businessmen, Vivian Reddy, and Rob Alexander of Edison and Ducatus Property Groups.

The destruction process, which started on Saturday, is expected to be completed by Wednesday afternoon. Reddy said yesterday that a temporary post office had been set up at the Umhlanga Bowling Club on Lagoon Drive.

“Massive signs have been placed at the demolition site to inform the public,” he said.

Post Office spokesperson Johan Kruger, confirmed that a fully operational post office has been set up at the club. Residents will be able to collect and send mail from the temporary facility. The boxes have also been relocated to the new office, said Reddy.

What’s more, Reddy said they are in the process of constructing a new permanent facility opposite the Beacon Rock development on Lighthouse Road.

“We anticipate that the new state-of-the-art facility will be completed in six months time. Once completed the Umhlanga Post Office will be moved into its new permanent premises,” he explained.
