Stolen vehicles recovered in joint operation

One of the vehicles was hijacked at Blue Lagoon just after 1am on Saturday morning.

TWO vehicles stolen from Blue Lagoon and KwaMashu were recovered on Saturday morning. by members of the Marshall Security Special operations team. According to the company’s Kyle van Reenen, one of the vehicles stolen, was stripped of its tyres and abandoned behind a hostel.

“In the first incident a driver of a Volkswagen Golf was hijacked at Blue Lagoon area shortly after 1.30am. The vehicle was fitted with a tracking device and monitored by Tracker, who distributed an alert to all vehicles in the northern areas. A joint effort between Tracker, Marshall Security and Metro Police saw the vehicle recovered and abandoned in the Ntuzuma area,” he said.

“Shortly after the first recovery, a second vehicle was reported stolen in KwaMashu’s F section and the vehicle was also found abandoned in A section behind a hostel where the vehicle was stripped of its tyres and rims,” he said.

He added both vehicles were handed over to the SAPS. The suspects in both incidents remain at large.
