Day of fun at IBV Children’s Day
The roles were reversed as some of Durban's top businessmen and women rolled up their sleeves and traded in their executive jobs for the day in order to give back to the less fortunate children.
MORE than 3 000 children from 38 Durban children’s homes were treated to a VIP day akin to that experienced at the famed Disney World at the seventh annual International Bank Vaults (IBV) Children’s VIP Day held at the Durban Exhibition Centre on Saturday.
The roles were reversed as some of Durban’s top businessmen and women, such as Logi Naidoo and Vivian Reddy, rolled up their sleeves and traded in their executive jobs for the day in order to give back to the less fortunate children.
“We want to give the children the time of their lives, and so we invite top executives to spend the day making candy floss, serving pizza or painting faces,” said Nesan Pather IVB group marketing manager.
With over 20 jumping castles, various fun zones (beauty, art, outdoor games, music and science) and 6 500 hot dogs being made the day was one never to be forgotten.
“The concept of the day is that no cash exchanges hands. We have over 25 businesses here today donating their time. Some have also donated items to help spoil the children – such as clothes, stationery, foods, activities or games,” said CEO Ashok Sewnarain.
“It has become an annual event the children talk and dream about,” he added.
