Manhunt leads to arrest of armed robbers

Through strategic patrols and investigations police were able to track and arrest two armed robbers.

TWO suspects were arrested following an armed robbery in Greenwood Park policing district at the weekend. According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the station, the suspects accosted two pedestrians at the corner of Greenfield Road and Avoca Hills Drives.

“The complainant alleged that he and his friend  were waiting for a lift when a blue Toyota Corolla with two occupants stopped near him. He further went on to say that the driver jumped out the vehicle and pointed a firearm at them and demanded his friend’s handbag and cell phone. The suspects then fled the scene after robbing the victims of their belongings,” he said.

Police immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects.  Through strategic patrols and investigations police managed to trace and arrest the suspects in the vicinity of the crime scene.

“All the items taken in the robbery were recovered and the Toyota Corolla that was used in the commission of the crime was impounded and taken to SAPS Greenwood Park,” added Audh.

He said the suspects are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s court soon.
