Two killed, four injured in horror N2 accident

Emergency personnel battled to get to scene due to the emergency lane being blocked by motorists.

TWO people were killed and four others injured after six vehicles collided on the N2 (north bound) before Umgeni Road just after 3pm on Sunday. According to operations director of Rescue Care, Garrith Jamieson, said traffic was severely affected because of the emergency lane being blocked by motorists.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene and found total carnage. Six vehicles had been involved in a collision on the freeway bringing it to a standstill. Two people had sustained multiple injuries and although paramedics worked to try and save them they unfortunately passed away on scene.

“Four other people had been injured with two sustaining serious injuries. At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further,” he said.

Jamieson added the entire freeway was initially closed while emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
