Elderly couple held up by armed men

The three men were armed with screwdrivers.

AN elderly couple have been left traumatised following an armed robbery at their home in Kew Place, Kenville. The couple, who are in their 80s, were watching TV when they were confronted by three armed men holding screwdrivers. One of the suspects ordered the couple to sit on floor without making a sound while his accomplices raided the house. The incident occurred at about 3pm on Friday afternoon.

“The suspects gained access into the yard by cutting the lock on the driveway gate. They then held up the elderly couple and proceeded to raid the house. A flat-screen TV and DVD player were taken. They also took the elderly woman’s purse with a small amount of cash,” said Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen.

It is unclear whether the men escaped using a getaway vehicle or fled on foot.
