WATCH: Man loses laptop in La Lucia remote jamming

The remote jamming of a service station patron was caught on CCTV camera.

A MAN fell victim to a remote-jamming syndicate at a service station in La Lucia recently. A video showing remote jammers at work was captured by CCTV cameras. The two-minute clip shows a silver Polo pull up behind a man going into the shop. He believed he has locked his car but the robbers pounce. Two men get out of the Polo and remote-jam the unsuspecting resident’s vehicle and within a minute are able to steal his laptop and drive away.

“Remote jammers, like the professional crew seen at work in this video, get within close proximity to your vehicle and use a signal frequency to jam your own remote from functioning, leaving the contents of your car ready to be exploited,” explained Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen.

“Remote jamming is a very real threat. Always ensure, wherever it is you park (whether in parking lot, mall or street), that your doors actually lock when you click your remote. Remote jammers strike anywhere at any time, so be hyper-aware and ensure that when you lock your car, it actually locks,” he said.
